About this file

This document is an Amendment (Amendment #0001) to a National Park Service solicitation for a pressure pump replacement project at Tuzigoot National Monument in Clarkdale, Arizona. The amendment includes a questions and answers section addressing technical details about the pump installation. Specifically, the document responds to two contractor questions: one requesting pictures of pump and motor installation, which are provided in the attachment, and another about potential use of a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD). The government clarified that the pumps are controlled by mercoid switches with on/off setpoints based on pressure tank levels, and do not require a VFD. The solicitation number is 140P1525Q0097, and the contracting officer is Taylor Jones, who can be reached at Taylor_A_Jones@nps.gov or 520-780-9294. The attached image shows blue pumps mounted on a concrete base with complex piping and valves in what appears to be a mechanical room or booster pump station.

Question # Question Answer/Response

1. Could you please provide pictures showing how the pumps and motor are installed within the booster pump room?

Refer to below picture.

2. Additionally, we understand that a Variable Frequency

Drive (VFD) is recommended. Can you also share pictures of the electrical installations, including any existing VFD panel or motor starters?

The pumps are not controlled by a variable frequency drive (VFD), nor do they require one in this situation.

They are controlled by mercoid switches with on off setpoints based on pressure in the pressure tank.
