Amendment 1 – 140P1424Q0038 – TICA Bat Gate Vendor Questions & Government Answers

1. Old gate design shows pins at every bar extending into the rock face, is this a requirement or are you open to alternate designs with less pins?

· We are open to alternate designs that meet the safety and resource protection goals of the project.

2. Does the Park have a preference on the size/type of steel bars used i.e., 2" square tube steel versus 4" angle iron bars with stiffeners?

· We do not have a preference.

3. What estimated distance will materials be hauled via rope vertically?

· The vertical haul distance is approximately 150 feet. The haul is not quite vertical, it runs up the rock chute at an angle. The materials may need to be hauled up in a sled or stretcher to reduce friction with the rock face. Equipment understanding of how to do this can be provided by the park.

4. Does the approach to the cave entrance require personnel to be roped up/vertically climb or is it a steep scramble?

· The approach to the cave entrance requires personnel to be in an industrial harness with crab claw tethers, a rappel device, and at least one ascender. The park can supply this equipment for a few people.

5. What type of steel is current gate constructed with? (Tube steel, angle, rebar)

· The current gate is constructed with 4” angle iron bars.
