About this file
This document contains proposed amendments to drawings for a security systems project for the Bureau of Land Management locations in Buffalo and Casper, Wyoming. The amendments specify replacing audible alarms with strobes alone in staff offices and break rooms except where requested; adjusting the volume of audible alarms in welding and grinding areas; removing the word "stand-alone" from access control panel notes; clarifying camera coverage for a fire garage; adding a note about reusing existing equipment for a handicap door operator; and replacing the specification for plywood backing from "plywood" to "fire resistant plywood."

140L6221R0031 Drawing Changes Amendment 0004
Audible Alarming Strobes On the drawings at all the BLM Wyoming locations it was suggested to install horns with strobes in the staff offices and break rooms. It is not cost efficient to install audible alarms with the strobes in the staff offices and break rooms since audible alarming will not be used in those areas. I am recommending making an amendment for all the BLM sites that states, “blue strobes are to be installed without any audible alarm functions unless specifically requested”.
Casper and Buffalo have requested audible alarming strobes mounted in areas that the strobe itself may not be seen due to mechanical activity such as welding, grinding, etc. Audible alarms are recommended there but the volume needs to be adjustable just enough to get any person’s attention that is working in that area but not loud enough to be heard throughout the staff offices.
Casper Drawing Page 08 of 20 The drawing indicates on Note 2 for the North and South Gate to install a new Stand-Alone Access Control Panel. An amendment needs to be made to remove the word stand-alone. Those panels will be connected to the head end.
Buffalo Drawing Page 07 of 13 The drawing indicates on Note 1 and 2 for the Gate to install a new Stand-Alone Access Control Panel. An amendment needs to be made to remove the word stand-alone. Those panels will be connected to the head end.
Casper Drawing page 11 of 20 On the drawing it was recommended to install two cameras for the Fire Garage area. I recommend an amendment stating that “If one camera can be installed and cover both doors effectively then one camera is acceptable.”
Casper Drawing page 14 of 20 Note # 5 states “EXISTING CARD READER TO BE REPLACED WITH NEW. RE-USE ALL OTHER EXISTING ACCESS CONTROL EQUIPMENT.” I recommend an amendment to the end of that note that states “TO INCLUDE THE HANDICAP DOOR OPERATOR.”
Casper Drawing page 15 of 20 Door # 110 on the drawings – It is being requested that a Handicap Door Operator be installed at this door. Currently no existing Handicap Operator exist for this door, and this will be a new install. The new Handicap Door Operator will be connected into the existing Access Control for that door.
Plywood Behind Panels In the Scope Of Work for all BLM projects it states “The Contractor shall provide plywood backing mounted on the wall for the Access Control System equipment.” The Scope Of Work for all sites should be amended to say “The Contractor shall provide fire resistant plywood backing mounted on the wall for the Access Control System equipment.”
