About this file
This document is a template for fungi field collection tags designed to be cut into individual cards for use during fieldwork in the Pacific Northwest region.
The field tags are structured to capture essential data for each fungal specimen collected. Each tag includes fields for taxonomic identification, collection date, collector names, and a collection number for tracking purposes. Geographic information is recorded through state selection (Washington, Oregon, or California), county designation, land owner information, and Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) coordinates in NAD83 datum format (6 digits for Easting and 8 digits for Northing). Additional location data can be recorded in a separate location field. The tags require documentation of the fungal habitat type by selecting from wood, moss, litter, soil, or fungus as the substrate, with space for additional habitat notes. A notes section is provided for recording observable characteristics including color, odor, taste, and texture. The template provides six individual tags per page, separated by dashed lines for cutting, allowing field collectors to document multiple specimens systematically and consistently during fieldwork activities.
