Summary of Section 096816 - Sheet Carpeting Specification
This is a specification section for sheet carpeting installation at the Boise District Fuels Building located at 2056 Commerce Avenue, Boise, Idaho 83705. The document establishes material requirements, installation standards, and quality assurance criteria for a woven carpet project with a 10-year warranty period from the date of Substantial Completion.
The specification requires 100 percent Nylon woven carpet with a minimum density of 9,000, selected by the Architect from the manufacturer's full range of colors. The carpet must include manufacturer's standard soil-resistance and antimicrobial treatments, with antimicrobial activity meeting AATCC 174 standards (minimum 2-mm halo of inhibition for gram-positive bacteria and 1-mm for gram-negative bacteria, with no fungal growth). Sustainable design requirements mandate Silver level certification according to ANSI/NSF 140, compliance with CRI's "Green Label Plus" testing program, and compliance with California Department of Public Health's volatile organic chemical emissions standards. The appearance retention rating must meet a minimum of 3.5 for severe traffic conditions per ASTM D 7330. Installation accessories include latex-modified, hydraulic-cement-based leveling compounds; water-resistant, mildew-resistant adhesives with a maximum VOC content of 50 g/L (certified as low or ultra-low VOC); water-resistant plywood tackless stripping; and hot-melt seam adhesive tape. Installation must comply with CRI's Carpet Installation Standard and manufacturer's written instructions, utilizing direct-glue-down installation methodology. Contractors must provide product data, sustainable design submittals with laboratory test reports, samples for each color and texture, product test reports, sample warranties, and maintenance data at closeout.
