About this file
This document is an amendment to the Request for Proposal (RFP) 140G0124R0022 for the stabilization of the A3 building at the U.S. Geological Survey Columbia Environmental Research Center (CERC). The amendment addresses questions and answers related to the helical pier requirements. Contractors are required to provide a base bid with an estimated helical pier depth of 28 feet below grade, as well as unit pricing for any additional depth required or reduced depth. The magnitude of the construction project is estimated between $250,000 and $500,000, and it is a total small business set-aside. The RFP is expected to be issued on or about 7/22/2024, with written quotes due on or about 8/21/2024. Bonds are required, and a site visit is strongly encouraged for all contractors.

140G0124R0022 Amendment 004 Q&A
1. Based on the soil conditions in the geotechnical report, we estimate the design capacity can be achieved at about 28 feet deep. However, from experience, some times weaker soils are encountered, requiring us to drive helicals deeper until suitable bearing soils are found. How should we account for additional costs if this is required?
Contractor to submit base bid with estimated helical pier depth of 28 ft below grade for each of the helical piers.
Provide a unit cost price per linear foot of depth of helical pier to be installed beyond estimated depth.
Provide a unit cost per liner foot for helical piers installed at a lesser depth than estimated depth.
You can include this information in your own format or manually add unit pricing to bid form in separate field.
