U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Fence Replacement, 2019, Phase III

Option for Increased Length of Fence.

Statement of Work

Scope of Work: In association with Phase II of a planned project for replacement of boundary line fence, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service – National Conservation Training Center (NCTC) extends the opportunity for the designated Contractor to install additional length of the same type of fence, as a third and final part (Phase III) of the total boundary fence The Contractor is to install approximately 650 linear feet of farm-type high-tensile fence along the northeast boundary of our property, replacing and removing the existing 4 ft. high wire mesh fence, as well as remnants of older fence. The Contractor is to provide all materials, tools, transportation and labor needed for the project. It is important that the completed fence be safe, look good, be easy to maintain, and of high-quality materials that will last a long time. All “General Information and Requirements” and “Specifications” for Phase II are the same for Phase III, with the exception of the changes indicated below. An attached map shows the location of the fencing.

General Information and Requirements:

1. The fence is to be along a portion of the NCTC boundary that lies between Terrapin Neck Road and the top of a steep slope overlooking the Potomac River.

2. An access path runs parallel to the fence, and is entirely accessible by foot, though vehicular passage is hindered in one approximately 150 ft. section by a rock formation. There is to be a vehicle route that goes around that formation to allow access to the fence from both directions.

Specifications:

1. The new fence will consist of approximately 650 linear feet of 3-wire high tensile.

2. Starting at the east end, the fence should tie into the end-of-fence H-brace to be installed along Terrapin

Neck Road in Phase II, creating a corner H-brace.

3. An end-of fence H-brace is to be installed at the northern end of the fence.

4. At least 2 in-line H-braces are to installed.

5. There are no gates to be installed.
