Questions & Answers
Question 25:
Section B Page 85 & 86 Paragraph: B6.2.2 & B6.2.3
Can you please provide additional clarification regarding the number of flights likely requiring air to ground transfer of emails, still images, video clips, etc.; as well as the volume/quantity of transmissions per flight. We need to better understand the potential volume/quantity of transfers so that we know how to price the internet connectivity and related transfer of information.
Answer 25: This will vary depending on the frequency of incidents. Aerial supervision, detection, mapping missions are high frequency missions during ongoing fires and less frequent at times of reduced fire activity. In a high frequency period we would require frequent and multiple daily transmissions and low frequency during low fire activity.
Question 25 Follow-On Answer: Based upon the Government’s internal research, there are options other than satellite communications that can be used to meet this requirement.
Question 26:
Section B Paragraph: B7.5.2
Of the 4 ICS outlet stations only 3 require audio panels, on the 4th station the passenger has the ability to control audio with no disruption to the other stations with the headset, is this in compliance?
Answer 26: 4 Audio panels are required. In accordance with Question 4 within Amendment 2, specifically B7.5.1.4 and B7.5.1.4.1 and B7.5.1, the pilot, co-pilot/ATGS, aft ATGS Instructor station and the aft ARSO station all must have capability to transmit outside the aircraft.
