Questions & Answers

Question 24:

Section B16 Paragraph: B16.2.1

With respect to the requirement of operating an airborne multispectral gimbaled remote sensor for a minimum of 100 hours, must all of these 100 hours be “while in flight” hours? In other words, can any of these 100 hours be accomplished via the use of a “ground-mounted” sensor, or via the use of an MX-15 simulator?

Answer 24: Yes. The Government will accept the ground mounted sensor and/or simulator experience towards the requirement of 100 hours of experience.

Question 25:

Section B Page 85 & 86 Paragraph: B6.2.2 & B6.2.3

Can you please provide additional clarification regarding the number of flights likely requiring air to ground transfer of emails, still images, video clips, etc.; as well as the volume/quantity of transmissions per flight. We need to better understand the potential volume/quantity of transfers so that we know how to price the internet connectivity and related transfer of information.

Answer 25: This will vary depending on the frequency of incidents. Aerial supervision, detection, mapping missions are high frequency missions during ongoing fires and less frequent at times of reduced fire activity. In a high frequency period we would require frequent and multiple daily transmissions and low frequency during low fire activity.
