About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) Log for Solicitation #140A2325Q0065, a Gym Floor Replacement project for Keams Canyon Elementary School (KCES), managed by the Department of the Interior Bureau of Indian Affairs and Indian Education. The Q&A log contains six contractor questions addressing technical details of the gym floor replacement, including subfloor systems, anchoring methods, and site access.

Key details from the Q&A log include confirmation that contractors can use plywood for subflooring, verification that existing floor anchoring methods are uncertain due to the gym's age (over 60 years old), and availability of As-Built drawings for review on-site. The solicitation allows an additional site visit before the proposal due date, with interested contractors instructed to contact KCES Facility Manager Benjamin Henry. The project involves replacing the existing gym floor, with potential modifications to accommodate new subflooring and associated structural adjustments.

1Specified subflooring system in SOW will raise the gym floor profile by 1-3/4”. Will need to raise basketball goals and modify doorways. Can we replace 1"X6" subfloor with ¾” plywood and install new T&G maple?Yes, you can use¾ plywood, but this will be determined when the gym floor is demolished and only result is to use¾ plywood, so the goal does not need to be adjusted.
2For the gym subfloor, how is it anchored? Floor systems were anchored to the slab back then (1960's) which takes a considerably more amount of time and labor to removeThe gym was built over 60 years ago and there is no drawing on what lies beneath the gym floor. Keams Canyon Elementary School cannot verify if it's anchored to the slab.
3Is there existing As Built Drawings availableYes, The As Built drawing is available if needed. A representative from your company can go over the As Built Drawing on site.
4Can the Square Footage (SF) of the Gym Floor be provided? The square footage see attached
5Is an additional Site Visit permitted before the Proposal Due Date?A site is permitted just inform KCES Facility Manager- Benjamin Henry, bhenry@kceseagles.org
