About this file

This is Amendment 0002 to a Request for Quote (RFQ) issued by the National Weather Service (NWS), a division of NOAA, for a communications shelter construction project at their facility located at 7600 Sand Point Way NE, Building 1, Seattle, WA 98115. The solicitation number is 1305M326Q0245, with an effective date of June 16, 2026. The amendment extends the deadline for quote submission to July 6, 2026 at 1400 PST to allow time for responses to technical questions from potential contractors.

The project involves the construction and installation of a new prefabricated communications shelter with a performance period from July 15, 2026 to November 12, 2026. Key requirements include installing a new floor for the structure, using neutral colored materials (tan/brown/whites preferred), and securing a Florida-engineered shelter to meet applicable building codes and wind-load requirements. The contractor is responsible for disconnecting and relocating the existing generator during construction, with NWS personnel handling generator and transfer switch reconnections, all communications equipment, Heliax antenna cables, grounding components, and associated conduit systems. The electrical panel installation is the contractor's responsibility. Temporary power is not required during construction as the site will be turned offline during the project. No asbestos or hazardous materials are anticipated given the existing structure was installed in May 1996.
