12905B22R0003 Renovate Greenhouse-Buildings Amendment #5
USDA Physiology and Pathology of Tree Fruit Lab Wenatchee, WA
Questions/Answers
1. The suggested heater CO RAY VAC "shall be a U-Tube Design with opposite 45° reflector, mounted at 10' AFF " will generate damaging temperatures. Please confirm both the install height and model intended for use.
Answer: I have spoken to CO RAY VAC service representatives and they indicated that the 125,000 btu/h heaters are sufficient for the greenhouse operations at installation height of 10' AFF. The 175,000 btu/hr radiant heater is not recommended to be installed at 10' AFF. I recommend providing 125,000 btu/h units for both RH-1 and RH-2 and ensure that all clearance are met.
2. Based upon dimensions taken at the site visit, the sidewall exhaust fans do not fit within the greenhouse structure. Please provide alternate option.
Answer: The exhaust fan sizes shown are correct. The polycarbonate supports will have to be modified to account for the increase of fan size. The polycarbonate multi-wall panels with new continuous metal glazing bars / support rafters and vertical wall channels does not have to match existing current spacing of 20.5" wide. Spacing could be increased to be 24" wide with the min. 12mm panel thickness as indicated in documents, confirm with polycarbonate manufacturer if this would meet acceptable panel loads.
See Vent Fan Detail attached.
3. Cumberland evaporative wall coolers only come 6” thick. (4” Specified). Is 6" acceptable?
Answer: 6" cooling pads are acceptable if there are no installation restrictions. Cumberland evaporative cooling walls is listed as a basis of design. Other manufacturers with 4" pads are acceptable.
4. The provided specification does not include an actual Division 23 HVAC section, is this available?
Answer: The specifications for mechanical equipment are specified in section 13 34 13.
