Question #01: What is the square footage of siding that needs to be replaced?
Answer #01: See Attachment 005 – Measurements and Photographs
Question #02: How many windows need to be replaced? Can the government provide dimensions of windows that are going to be replaced and the style of window the government is requesting? Example single hung/casement/double hung.
Answer #02: See Attachment 001 – Schedule of Items for window quantity and sizes. See Answer #10 for more information on style of window.
Question #03: Can the government supply site photos of existing windows and siding?
Answer #03: See Attachment 005 – Measurements and Photographs.
Question #04: Does government have an estimate of how much plywood will need to be replaced?
Answer #04: There are approximately five bird holes in the siding that will need to be replaced.
There is no way to estimate anything larger than a 4-in square board to cover the hole. The siding will need to be removed in order to gain a better estimation on damaged plywood needing repair.
Question #05: Are there any existing photos of the four elevations being worked on, or can we get some? This would give everyone bidding on it a place to start so we might get a good idea how much scaffolding is needed or a boom lift.
Answer #05: See Attachment 005- Measurements and Photographs
Question #06: Will the siding need to be painted if a color matched product is available?
Answer #06: The siding will need to match in color as the Ranger Office. If the product can be ordered to the matched color no painting will be needed.
Question #07: The portion of the siding at gable level on the Ranger Office has a shake textured siding. Is the bunkhouse going to have the same design as the Ranger Office?
Answer #07: No. The siding will look uniform along the side of the bunkhouse going all the way up to the gable.
Question #08: What type of window is the Forest Service looking at using; vinyl, composite, wood, etc.?
Answer #08: Per Attachment 002- Statement of Work, the contractor will “Remove existing windows and replace with vinyl windows of same size and with proper flashing to house siding.
Question #09: There are two sets of four tall windows that are not being replaced in the contract. Is the Forest Service expecting it to be removed and retrimmed?
Answer #09: Yes, please retrim around windows not being replaced in the contract.
Question #10: What style of window is the Forest Service looking for?
Answer #10: In areas where there are two casement windows next to each other we are looking at having them removed and replaced with one single-hung window. For windows that have a single casement window we are looking to have them replaced in a similar way.
Question #11: Is the vinyl window on the first floor staying or will it be replaced?
Answer #11: That vinyl window will be replaced with a single-hung window.
Question #12: What is the expectation for the interior trim around the windows? Are they all going to be the same? Is the material for the trim going to be wood or sheet rock?
Answer #12: We would like to have the interior trim replaced in a similar way. All the windows will be replaced with wood trim, with the exception of the vinyl window with existing sheet rock trim which will be replaced with sheet rock trim. However, we are accepting recommendations from contractors.
Question #13: What type of material should be used to replace the flashing around the siding?
Should it be painted?
Answer #13: Galvanized flashing will be used to at an appropriate gauge. The flashing needs to be painted the same color as the trim.
Question #14: There is damage in the stucco at the bottom of the bunkhouse. Does that need to be repaired as part of the contract?
Answer #14: That part of the bunkhouse is not part of the contract, and the contractor will not be responsible for repairing the stucco.
Question #15: Will you be able to provide a spec sheet, blueprint, or current photos of the bunkhouse for contractor reference?
Answer #15: See Attachment 005- Measurements and Photographs.
