Q: Has the forest service performed any exploration drilling to determine the type of rock and amount of overburden in the proposed quarry?
A: No the government does not have this information. that there is publicly available geology mapping of the state from other agencies such as the U.S. Geological Survey. If that sound ok I will reply to Jake’semail and cut your email to me out of the chain.
Q: Is there some sort of soils report or survey that the Government could supply that states approximate depth of desired material, or an average of the depth of over burden on the site? This would greatly help us in determining the amount of overburden to be stripped and piled up on site.
A: No subsurface investigations have been conducted near the proposed quarry. However, the USFS has mapped soils across the entire Coronado National Forest. The proposed quarry is located in a soil unit with the following attributes:
Soil Type: Lithic Haplustolls, loamy-skeletal, mixed, superactive, mesic Soil Depth: Very Shallow (<25 cm) Parent Material: Residuum derived from limestone and sandstone
