28 August 2025 Amendment 0002

Question 1: Could you kindly provide the incumbent contractor’s name, the previously awarded contract number, and the total award amount?

Answer: This is a new contract.

Question 2: Provide the number of standpipe systems & hose valves.

Answer: Interior- 26ea, Exterior- 6ea

Question 3: Can you provide the date of the last 5-year sprinkler & standpipe inspection? Based on the stickers found on the base riser, it was due in 2025 but did not locate another sticker confirming this inspection was completed. I would like to confirm that this inspection should be included in our base pricing.

Answer: The last sticker indicating when the 5-year inspection was completed for the sprinkler & standpipe systems was on May 2020. A 5-year inspection needs to occur as soon as possible upon the award of the contract.

Question 4: During the bid walk, it was undetermined which area of the building was serviced by the pre-action sprinkler system. Please provide the as-builts if available or explain in detail the portion of the building protected by this system.

Answer: The fire release control panel for the sprinkler systems is in support of the entire system as far as we are aware of the system.

Question 5: Does USDA have a requirement for what means of monitoring transmission is used? Would it be acceptable to convert to a cellular dialer?

Answer: Currently, cooper line is supporting the current system. Yes, a cellular dialer could be acceptable upon review between the vendor and COR. Wanted to share, an evaluation of the current cellular services would need to be conducted by the vendor.

Question 6: Please provide a picture of the name plate on the generator, manufacture, horsepower etc

Answer: See Attachment (1.1,1.2, 1.3)

Question 7: Please send a copy of the last preventive maintenance report for the generator.

Question 11: What specifically do you require for the rust prevention of the exterior piping at the pump house?

Answer: This is for all related systems involved in the contract for interior and exterior equipment. Note: Manufacturers and facility managers must implement corrosion protection strategies, such as: NFPA 20 outlines maintenance and protection standards for fire pumps. Compliance not only ensures safety but also enhances the longevity of your fire pump system. Requirement would involve the removal of rust as much as possible, dirt and grime, before applying appropriate coating, sealants, greases and applying the appropriate surface protections such as paint while maintaining color coding surfaces with the appropriate colors.

Question 12: Are all the facilities of your client's agency using public water, or are they on private wells?

Answer: Public water (Water Tower) – City of Vallejo

Question 13: How many backflow preventer valves does your client have to be tested annually?

Answer: One exterior main backflow preventer valve, and any smaller hidden associated backflow valves in relation to the fire suppression systems. Proper maintenance and corrosion control measures are associated with this equipment too.

Question 14: What size is each backflow preventer valve?

Answer: Based on the right-angle & left-angle pipe feeding into the backflows it indicates 8 x 90. See Attachment (1.4).
