About this file

This document is a Q&A related to a Request for Quote (RFQ) for Foldable Solar Panels, Solicitation Number 12760424Q0179. The key details are:

The RFQ is for part number F16-3600-SAE-DESERT-LMT foldable solar panels, with a weight of approximately 3 lbs 6 oz, which exceeds the stated requirement of less than 3 lbs. However, the additional weight is acceptable. Desert camo or khaki color is preferred, but other colors such as woodland camo are acceptable if desert camo is unavailable.

The initial purchase quantity is 60 units, with options for 60-180 units per year for 4 option years (2025-2028). Quotes should be submitted to corrine.gonzales@usda.gov. Additional weatherproofing is required, similar to a previous related solicitation with the USDA. The solicitation is being issued by the Department of Agriculture Forest Service.

Foldable Solar Panels Q&A

12760424Q0179 Foldable Solar Panels - Amendment 1
Vendor QuestionGovernment Response
1.) Regarding this RFQ, it is for part number F16-3600-SAE-DESERT-LMT that is in Attachment+3+-+BOM+Solarpanels. The weight of this panel is 3 lbs. 6 oz +/- 1 oz, however, the RFQ states less than 3 lbs. for the panel weight. The F16-3600-SAE-DESERT-LMT folding solar panel was developed with the laminated panels to meet environmental requirements, however, the laminate adds a little weight that pushes it over 3 lbs. The fabric color is desert camo that should be available through the end of this four (4) year requirement, however, it's possible another camo fabric color may need to be used if enough material is not available in this color towards the end of the contract, such as woodland camo, or khaki.Part number F16-3600_SAE-DESERT-LMT or equivalent is listed on the BOM. The additional weight is acceptable. Colors other than desert camo are acceptable if desert camo is unavailable.
2.) For clarification, the initial purchase requirement is for 60 units, followed by years 1, 2, 3, and 4 with units ranging between 60 and 180 in purchase increments of 60 units. So, there may only be 60 purchased, but up to 180 in a year if understood correctly). Can you please confirm if the years are 2024, 2025, 2026, and 2027 or the first 60 for year 2024, then year 1 (2025) for 60 to 180, year 2 (2026) for 60 to 180, year 3 (2027) for 60 to 180, and year 4 (2028) for 60 to 180.The first 60 are required for the base year, 2024. Option year 1 (2025) for 60 to 180; option year 2 (2026) for 60 to 180: option year 3 (2027) for 60 to 180; option year 4 (2028) for 60 to 180. For each option year there may be only 60 purchased, but up to 180 per year purchased in increments of 60.
3.) Earlier this year we supported a different tender with the USDA. It was also a 60W panel, but it required additional weatherproofing so the part number was slightly different. Does this same requirement exists for this RFQ please?”Yes, additional weatherproofing is required.
4.) What is the color preference - Desert Camo, Woodland camo, Black or Multi?Desert camo or khaki is preferred. Colors other than desert camo / khaki are acceptable if desert camo is unavailable.
5.) Where should quotes be submitted? Please submit quotes to corrine.gonzales@usda.gov
