About this file
This is a Requests for Information (RFI) and Responses document for a federal contract solicitation (12639526Q0130) addressing demolition of fire-damaged larval rooms at Moore Air Base, Building 6418, the Mexican Fruit Fly Rearing Facility. The Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service is the contracting agency for this project, which supports the Mexican Fruit Fly eradication program in the Lower Rio Grande Valley in Texas and northern Tamaulipas, Mexico.
The RFI responses clarify three critical project requirements: (1) hazardous material testing was previously completed with no hazardous materials identified, and the government will provide documentation for project records; (2) all existing foundations and concrete slabs must remain in place with no concrete demolition or removal required; and (3) the natural gas main serving the building's boiler must be protected during demolition activities and either supported with steel bracing to withstand its weight or re-routed. The contractor is responsible for providing all demolition and odor control services, including materials, supplies, and labor necessary to demolish larval rooms 1-4, with site access located southwest of Building 6418.
