About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document providing clarifications on janitorial services requirements at the USDA APHIS Port of Entry in Niagara Falls, NY. The facility consists of a single barn approximately 3,000 square feet with an adjoining 1,000 square-foot office space. The barn houses cattle temporarily for short periods with no animals present during cleaning operations. Service requirements include pressure washing the barn floor (which has a trench drain) after each use, removal of bedding shavings around trailer entrances, and window cleaning for approximately 12 windows accessible via a 6-foot step ladder. Floor care involves strip and wax services on approximately 1,000 square feet of tile flooring. Standard janitorial PPE is sufficient, though waterproof clothing and boots are recommended. No biohazard disposal, specialized disinfectants, or enhanced safety equipment is required.

Barn cleaning frequency varies seasonally, occurring 2-3 days per week during winter months and 1-2 times monthly during summer, with individual cleaning sessions typically requiring 3-4 hours with one janitor. Site inspections may be scheduled Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., excluding federal holidays, by contacting Randall S. Verink, D.V.M., USDA APHIS at the Niagara Falls location. The Questions and Answers clarify ambiguities regarding service frequency, facility specifications, and operational requirements to support accurate quotation preparation for this small business set-aside solicitation.
