About this file

The document is a Request for Information (RFI) for solicitation 12639525R0007, addressing high-game fence installation in Cameron County, Texas. The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) seeks to construct approximately 20 miles of 8-foot high-game fencing on private and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service property to prevent cattle fever tick transmission by restricting wildlife movement. The project is specifically set aside for service-disabled veteran-owned small business firms, with an estimated contract value between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000 under NAICS code 238990.

The RFI includes specific technical clarifications: cedar posts are not acceptable, treated wood posts are required; seeding is not necessary; gates will be 8' high and can be pre-manufactured with varying lengths; and potential staging areas for equipment will depend on individual landowner approval. The fencing aims to control cattle fever tick spread by limiting movement of white-tailed deer and nilgai antelope, potentially connecting with existing game or cattle fencing to create contiguous wildlife corridors. Interested parties are advised to monitor the solicitation for amendments and direct questions to the contracting officer, Jim Roloff.

RFIs, 12639525R0007, High Game Fence

1. Are cedar posts ok? I thought I heard yes but was double checking. No. Treated wood posts (sizes in SOW) are required.

2. Is it the contractor's responsibility to seed? I thought I heard in the meeting it wasn't necessary. It will not be necessary for this project.

3. Are the gates 8' as well and can they be pre-manufactured? Gates will be 8’ high and can be pre-manufactured according to specs in SOW. Length of gates will vary based on landowner preference or existing gate size on each property.

4. Will it be possible to have a staging point on one of the properties for a couple of 40' containers for fence rolls and posts, etc.? As stated in our meeting, there is a possibility to acquire staging access, but this will be dependent on each landowner and is not guaranteed.
