SUBJECT: ADDENDUM NO. 1 TO THE BIDDING DOCUMENTS FOR:

Building 1: Repair Building Exterior Envelope National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research (NCAUR) USDA-ARS, Peoria, IL

General: The following items reflect modifications and clarifications to the Bidding Documents and to part of the Work for the above project. Acknowledge receipt of this Amendment on Bid Form. All requirements of the original drawings and specifications shall remain in force except as modified by Amendment.

Clarifications:

Clarification #1:

Regarding Window Treatment:

For Bidding Purposes, Contractor shall remove and re-install existing window treatments at all Phase 6 windows. New window treatments will not be furnished by the Contractor.

Clarification #2:

Phase 6 includes a building elevation that is adjacent to the driveway to the building's receiving and shipping facility. Contractor shall coordinate with Owner and shall provide all means and methods such that this driveway to shipping and receiving always remains open during the performance of project activities.

Clarification #3:

Contractor shall assume that vermiculate insulation is present in Phase 6. USDA has tested this vermiculite insulation; test results indicate that the vermiculite contains asbestos but a level below the regulated level. Contractor shall employ means and methods that will retain vermiculite insulation as much as possible. Contractor shall capture and clean up any vermiculite that is released from the walls (i.e., vermiculite that cannot be retained during brick removal and performance of the work). Contractor shall legally dispose all vermiculite that is not retained in the wall construction. Contractor shall not include any re-insulating costs in their proposal.

Clarification #4:

USDA has not tested window caulking of Phase 6 windows for asbestos. (Windows of South Wing - South Elevation has been tested and test results indicated that asbestos was not present). For bidding purposes, Contractor shall assume that asbestos is not present at the window caulking of Phase 6 windows. Contractor shall include in their proposal the sampling and testing of six (6) locations at Phase 6 windows for asbestos containing materials. This sampling and testing shall occur prior to disturbing the windows. Test results shall be submitted to USDA for review and record.

Clarification #5:

Two sets of drawings have been uploaded to SAM.gov, the two sets are "12505B22R0015 - Drawings" and "Drawings-Bldg 1-Ext Envel-Ph 6". "12505B22R0015-Drawings" indicates repairs in all seven building phases designed for brick /window repairs. "Drawings-Bldg1-Ext Envel-Ph6" indicates brick/window repairs for Phase 6 only and includes revisions documented from previous bidding of Phase 1, Phase 5 and Phase 7. Contractor shall use "Drawings-Bldg 1-Ext Env-Ph 6" to develop their proposals.
