About this file

This is a Request for Information (RFI) and Questions & Answers document for federal contract solicitation 12445526Q0006. The document addresses inquiries regarding HVAC maintenance and replacement work at two ranger stations in New Hampshire.

The solicitation concerns air handler replacement and boiler servicing at the Androscoggin Ranger Station in Gorham, NH and the Saco Ranger Station in Conway, NH. Key findings from the RFI clarify that air handlers are not suspended from ceilings and that air handler and propane boiler model numbers are available in attached nameplate photos. A contractor proposed an alternative access method involving removal of an exterior intake grate to replace the air handler without disturbing the boilers; however, the government rejected this approach, requiring instead that boilers be removed, serviced, piping replaced, reinstalled, and tested according to the original Statement of Work. Open site visits have been scheduled for February 18th and 19th at both locations: Gorham at 10:00 AM (Androscoggin Ranger Station, 300 Glen Rd., hosted by Travis Pellerin at 603-466-2713 x1216) and Conway at 1:00 PM (Saco Ranger Station, 33 Kancamagus Hwy., hosted by Michelle Hanson at 603-447-5448 ext 5105).

RFI/ Q&A Solicitation 12445526Q0006

• Any Air Handlers Suspending from Ceilings - The air handlers are not suspended from ceilings.

• Air Handler Model Numbers/ If they have heating kits / Propane Boiler model numbers for reference and maintenance per manufacturer – Please see attached photos of the name plates for the requested items.

RFI - After conducting a site visit, I developed an alternative approach that would allow the air handler to be replaced without removing the boilers. There is an exterior intake grate located behind the air handler unit. My proposed plan is to remove the grate and cut the opening down to grade, which would allow the air handler to be removed and replaced from the exterior of the building. This approach would allow the boilers to remain in place, with only the maintenance service outlined in the scope of work being performed.

I have attached photos for reference. Please let me know if you prefer this alternative approach or if you would like us to proceed strictly in accordance with the original scope of work.- Being that the boilers need to be serviced, and the piping needs to be replaced, as stated in the SOW, we do not wish to use this alternative method for accessing the air handler. Yes, the boilers would need to be reinstalled and tested to ensure they are in proper working order.

Gorham, NH 03581 hosted by Travis Pellerin 603-466-2713 x1216). and at 1PM we'll do an open site visit in Conway (Saco Ranger Station at 33 Kancamagus Hwy. Conway, NH 03818 hosted by Michelle Hanson 603-447-5448 ext 5105).
