About this file

This document contains USDA Forest Service salient characteristics and brand-neutral minimum requirements for two classes of snowmobiles: a turbocharged mountain/deep-snow snowmobile (175+ horsepower, 154/155-inch track class) and a 600-class mountain/deep-snow snowmobile (125+ horsepower, 154/155-inch track class), both for 2026 or later model years.

For the turbocharged model, the Government requires a new, current-production, liquid-cooled, two-cylinder, two-stroke turbocharged engine with minimum 840 cc displacement and 175 horsepower, maintaining full output through 8,000 feet elevation. The vehicle must have a 9.0-gallon minimum fuel capacity, automatic continuously variable transmission, push-button electric start, a 154-155 inch mountain track at least 15 inches wide with 2.75-inch minimum lug profile, maximum dimensions of 130 inches length by 42 inches width by 53 inches height, and published dry weight not exceeding 470 pounds. Additional requirements include independent front suspension with 8.0+ inches travel, rear suspension with 10.5+ inches travel and lockable mode, adjustable ski stance of 33.5-36 inches, hydraulic disc brakes, LED lighting, heated controls, 4.5-inch digital display with drive-belt monitoring, and a minimum 12-month warranty. For the 600-class model, specifications include a factory-installed, liquid-cooled, two-cylinder, two-stroke engine of 590-650 cc displacement with minimum 125 horsepower, factory electric start system, 9.0-gallon fuel capacity, maximum dry weight of 455 pounds, 2.5-inch minimum lug profile track, identical suspension specifications, and similar comfort and safety features plus a factory-integrated 3.0-liter storage compartment. Both specifications require full dealer preparation, compliance with federal safety and emissions standards, complete documentation including operator manuals and warranty information, and delivery in clean condition ready for immediate Government use.

2. OFFEROR SUBMITTAL REQUIREMENTS

• Identify the proposed manufacturer, model, model year, and complete factory configuration.

• Complete the compliance matrix below and cite the exact page/section of supporting technical literature for each requirement.

• Clearly describe every exception, deviation, or substitute feature. Unexplained blanks may be treated as noncompliance.

• Provide published curb/dry weight, engine output, track dimensions, suspension travel, warranty, and delivery lead time.

• Products shall be delivered fully assembled, dealer-prepared, serviced, and ready for immediate Government use.
