Pre‐bid Meeting for Solicitation 12435H18R0007 Questions

1. What about the Rock facing on the abutment wall? Can we use the fake/manufactured rock?

No the face has to simulate the wall built by the CCC, built with real rock and to simulate the type of construction techniques used to build the wall.

2. Can we use the concrete form liners to simulate rock on the footings? No it has to be real rock.

The contractor will have to use real rock and provide the Forest Service mock ups of the rock the

Contractor proposes to use for approval.

According the specifications, the Contractor may reuse the existing rock wall material in the new wall if it is appropriate. If the material is not suitable, the material may be used in the stream for the fish structures and to rebuild the banks.

The Ranger asked to clarify the statement, that the Contractor may place the material from the existing wall in the creek as designated but may not remove material from the creek.

3. Question about Special project specification traffic control 156

That is a new standard specification that was put in the package for an example that will be removed.

4. Question about special project specifications 105(02)a This is a required specification with a sample quarry in the blanks, since we do not a any government provided material, I have deleted it from the specification. All aggregate material in this contract, with the possible exception of the reused material from the existing headwalls, will be commercial sourced.

5. Questions about permits for the job. This project does not need permits we are replacing an existing culvert. I have reviewed the special project specification and removed any ambiguous language. Given the work with the bypasses at the site, the contractor will have to monitor for water quality at both sites. The Contractor will provide a dewatering plan for review and approval before commencing work at the site.

6. Request was made for the geotechnical report. There was a geotechnical evaluation made at each site, but no boring were made. Those reports will be uploaded to the solicitation. The successful contractor will also have a copy of the point file to use in the site work.
