About this file
This document is a substitution request for a federal construction project (Lolo National Forest - Building 24 Basement Remodel) submitted after the bidding/negotiating phase, along with supporting technical specifications and product data sheets for communications cabling systems.
The substitution requests the replacement of a specified Category 6 twisted pair cable with a Panduit minicom cable with General Cable as the proposed substitute. The requestor indicates no performance differences between the proposed substitution and the specified product, cites that Panduit is not a product partner for the specified item as the reason for substitution, notes similar cost to the owner, and confirms no impact on other work or contract time. Supporting product data for the Panduit TX6 PLUS UTP jack modules and Mini-Com High Density Modular Patch Panels are included, demonstrating Category 6/Class E compliance with ANSI/TIA-568-C.2 standards and certified performance to 250 MHz. The specification section (27 1513) for Communications Copper Horizontal Cabling establishes requirements for Category 6 and Category 6A twisted pair cables, hardware, coaxial cable, and grounding provisions for the Missoula Montana Airport ATCT Modernization project. Acceptable manufacturers include CommScope, Leviton, and The Siemon Company. Installation must comply with TIA-568.1-E, NECA 1, and TIA-607-D standards, with cables rated CMR (non-plenum), 23 AWG solid copper conductors, and unshielded twisted pairs. The Division 27 contractor must be a manufacturer-certified contractor providing a minimum 25-year performance warranty on parts and labor, with personnel demonstrating minimum five years of cable installation experience and 40 hours of certified training.

www.panduit.com s p e c i f i c a t i o n s High density modular patch panels shall consist of a metal panel with molded front or rear snap-in faceplates. Patch panels shall accept all Mini-Com® Modules for UTP, STP, A/V or select fiber and shall mount to standard 19" racks. Patch Panels shall be available in 32-port (1 RU), 48-port (1 RU) and 72-port (2 RU). Select styles shall be available in white. Flush mount panels shall be easy to identify with pre-numbered ports. Angled patch panels shall be designed at an optimum angle to help route the cable.
Mini-Com® High Density Modular Patch Panels S P E C I F I C A T I O N S H E E T a p p l i c a t i o n s Mini-Com® High Density Patch Panels are ideal for multi-media applications. Flat and angled designs are available in various port densities to fit most needs. Flush mount style includes pre-numbered ports or area for adhesive labeling, select faceplate style panels with label pockets include pre-numbered labels and covers. Angled patch panels are available for applications in which rack space is limited. The design allows cable to flow to each side of the rack, minimizing the need for horizontal cable managers and increasing the density of the rack space. High density patch panels can mount on a standard 19" rack or a 23" rack when using the extender brackets PEB1 or PEB2.
