About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) record for federal solicitation 1240LU26Q0036 issued by Lolo National Forest for the Plains Ranger Station Roof Replacement and Repairs project, dated March 3, 2026. The Q&A addresses two key inquiries from potential contractors: site visit procedures and the scope of work for the Main Office Building repairs.

Regarding site access, contractors are permitted to visit the Ranger District during regular office hours without advance notice required; visitors must check in at the front desk upon arrival to identify themselves as viewing the buildings for the re-roofing project. For the Main Office Building scope, the government clarified that repair work is limited to providing proper step flashing in specific areas rather than full roof replacement, as illustrated in the Plains Office Roof Flashing sketch. The photographic documentation shows a 3:12 roof pitch with a 13-foot dimension, highlighting areas where step flashing is absent and roof leaks have occurred, contrasted with areas where proper step flashing prevents leaks, and includes additional photographs depicting the current roof conditions and flashing details at the ridge and building interface.
