About this file
This is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) document addressing contractor inquiries regarding generator specifications and procurement responsibilities for a photovoltaic (PV) system project.
The document clarifies four key points regarding generator requirements: a prime generator is not required; the Owner/Government will not provide the generator; the electrical contractor must coordinate with the PV system provider to determine which party supplies the generator; and the specifications mandate a liquid-cooled generator, though contractors may propose air-cooled alternatives with proper justification. Additionally, the document confirms that a previous contract requirement for an additional generator for attic stock has been struck from the project, with the A&E firm responsible for removing this requirement from plan sheet E3.1 and all other contract references.

Text version
1. Is the generator for the system required to be a prime generator?
A: No.
2. Is the generator being provided by the Owner/Government?
A: No.
3. If not provided by the Owner/Government, is the generator to be provided by the electrical contractor or the PV system provider?
A: The electrical contractor is to coordinate with the PV system provider as to who provides the generator.
3. Can you clarify note #10 on sheet E3.1 when it says to provide an additional generator for attic stock
A: We are striking this requirement from the contract. We do not want an additional generator for attic stock. The A&E firm is going to provide an updated plan sheet for E3.1 with the last sentence of that note crossed out. They will also strike out any other references for that throughout the contract.
4. If you can tell me if you’re looking for a liquid cooled or an air-cooled generator…
A: The specifications call for liquid cooled. If there is justification for going with air cooled, the contractor should provide it for consideration.
