Project Number: 1240LT24R0002 Project Title: Paddy Flat Guard Station Deferred Maintenance
1. Please explain the determination of responsibility. The copy provided in the bid documents has a section that isn’t legible. Please clarify.-A new document that is legible has been loaded into SAM.
2. In section C.1 Scope of Contract of the solicitation under option 2 siding work, installation of new gable vents in the attic is called out. This is not shown in the drawings. Will we need to install these gable vents? If so, please provide a basis of design.
Gable vents in garage will not need to be installed.
3. Per section C.1 Scope of Contract of the solicitation under option 1 other repairs, item 6 calls for the contractor to install handrails on the North and East exterior concrete stoops. In the plans this is only shown on the North exterior stoop. Is the contractor to install handrails on the east exterior stoop as well? If so, please provide a detail and a description of what will be required.
No handrail will be installed on the east exterior steps, only the north exterior stoop as shown on sheet D-07.
4. In response to question and answer 11 from the Q&A, please clarify the government’s definition of accessible. To our understanding, the stud bays aren’t currently accessible from the interior or exterior. To gain access to the stud bays, the contractor would have to remove either the exterior siding and skip sheathing underneath or remove the existing interior paneling and substrate. Are we to only install sheet metal in the stud bays that are currently accessible? Please clarify, Some of the studs bays are accessible from the interior in the storage room. Some of the other bays may be exposed during interior wall repairs, and the exterior may be exposed during siding replacement. It is expected that all of the gable ends will be protected. What method is easiest for protecting the gables is up to the contractor to decide.
5. In response to question and answer 14 from the Q&A, please provide a specification for the vertical wood planks.
Dimensions were not taken for the vertical wood planks. Contractor shall verify dimensions of the existing planks and order to match existing.
6. In response to question and answer 21 from the Q&A, will an exterior rated junction box be acceptable for extending the circuits to the new panel location, or will the contractor need to refeed all circuits with new wire?
An exterior rated junction box would be acceptable.
