4. Do we have to use biodegradable hydraulic oil? Can we use an oil boom instead??
- Biodegradable hydraulic oil is required per contract specifications.
5. Can an additional line item be added for a temporary crossing?
- Costs for temporary crossing should be included in existing line items. A temporary by pass plan shall be submitted and approved before work starts.
6. The hand sketch drawings show 3 options (bottomless, abutments/precast, and conspan. Is pricing required on all 3?
- You need to provide pricing on the structure in the bid items, specifications and signed plan set. The sketches were only included as some of the info may be helpful in footing design.
7. The onsite study has hand sketches and notes. The notes show debris on the gravel banks.
Will additional debris removal be needed that is not showing in the specs?
- No, the sketches were done in 2011. There is no longer significant debris on the bank. Any remaining debris should be minor and go under Item 20806.
8. For the water diversion, can the existing structure be used while setting the new bridge so that the flow is only disturbed one time?
- The least amount of diversion and disturbance is best. A dewatering plan is a required submittal for approval before work is started. The planned constructed structure is a bottomless culvert not a bridge. There is currently no existing structure in place.
