Q & A

Q: Is the pressure washer supposed to be hot or cold?

A: Hot water to more efficiently remove weed seeds.

Q: With the 10 GPM pump, will a gas engine suffice, or will you need diesel?

A: Gas engine.

Q: For the sand bags, would a LATIMAT Portable Wash Pad 12’X24’ work for total containment of effluents?

A: Yes, a LATIMAT wash pad would work.

Q: How many operators?

A: 1.

Q: What services do you provide or want to offer? (i.e., pressure washing, soft washing, waterfed capabilities and solar cleaning, etc.)

A: hot water high pressure washing.

Q: In regard to filtration and containment, how much is the client looking to produce as well as contain on the trailer?

A: 300-gallon Fresh Water Tank, 12-gallon soap tank.

Q: For the vacuum recovery and recycling, are there any specific needs such as a holding tank for dirty water?

A: No.

Q: what are some of the must haves about the build as well as any metric that need to be met, such as GPM that it will need to produce, expectation for size for holding tanks. I understand there is a need for recycling dirty water as well and filtration as well as containment, If you can divulge on any and all details and necessities

All specifications listed in Attachment 2 – Specifications document are required. Review the answers contained in this document clarifying specifications as well.

Q: Spec is calling for a soap injection system. Soaps and degreasers cause chemical emulsions which make the recycling of water very difficult. Would the government consider a heated pressure washer system in lieu of soap injection? Heated, pressurized water is as effective a degreaser as soaps, and does not introduce chemical emulsions, making water reclamation much more achievable. This is standard industry practice in military applications where water reclamation is required.

A: Yes.

Q: What are the standards the recycled water needs to meet? This will drive the filtration system criteria.

A: No standards.

Q: What is the minimum size the waste tank needs to be? Not specified in the document.

A: 150-gallon.

Q: Spec states "Heavy Duty 10k rated trailer". This needs to be an enclosed trailer, correct?

A: No, can be open flat trailer.

Q: Spec specifies that sandbags need to be provided for containment in parking lot applications. Does a containment mat also need to be provided? Sandbags alone will not fully contain the wash effluent.

Q: Additionally, how many sandbags need to be provided? What is the maximum wash area that needs to be contained?

A: Max wash area would be area required for Forest Service fire equipment, fire engine, bulldozer.

Q: The does "4' long, abrasion resistant PVC for wash water control" refer to 4' side panels to border the wash lane to prevent overspray? Do these need to be self-standing?

Q: Document specifies 2 complete gun and wand assemblies, but just states "HD Hose Reels (5,000 PSI Rated)". Please confirm 2 hose reels are needed.

A: Yes, 2 hose reels are needed.

Q: Is the Rain Shroud Top Cover for the wash area, or for the equipment on the trailer?

A: Equipment on open trailer.

Q: Does a power source need to be provided? i.e. onboard generator?

Q: Being for the Payette N.F, freeze protection would be a concern. Should the WW Trailer be insulated and have heating capabilities for shoulder season usage?

A: Unknown, but must be capable of being winterized.

Q: Does the recycling/filtration system need to run in full automatic? I.e. water is brought in from the wash area and cycled through the filtration system to the wash tank automatically, without manual human interference at each step?

Q: Does training need to be provided upon delivery?

A: No, but instruction manual would be required.

Q: What as-built and training documentation should be provided with system?

A: See answer above.
