Amendment 2

RFQ# 1232SA26Q0209

Pendleton Building Repairs Project E (Adams, OR)

Questions and Answers

1. What is the expected rough order of magnitude (ROM) for this project?

ANSWER: Base Bid is between $100,000 and $250,000. Base Bid combined with Alternate is Between $250,000 and $500,000.

2. Are there any liquidated damages associated with this project?

ANSWER: No

3. Part 1 – General in the specifications, paragraph 1.3.A.1 states, “This project will construct an exhaust system to connect to new fume hoods and modify the existing HVAC system to maintain current heating and cooling capacities. It will also design and construct platforms to support fume hood exhaust fans and ductwork.”

Attachment 04 from Coffman Engineers provides a preliminary design for this structure on page 12 of 12. Please confirm that the offeror’s structural engineer can use the design and calculations provided in Attachment 04 from which to create stamp ed engineering drawings for the tower structure and platforms.

ANSWER: Detail 3 on sheet M-501 indicates the requirements for this platform. The awarded contractor is responsible for providing stamped shop drawings and calculations to meet the criteria listed.

4. Are there any permits required for the work?

ANSWER: No

5. Exterior wall/roof penetrations for the exhaust ducting typically require architectural designs. Will the government provide these details, or is this included as part of the offeror’s scope of work?

ANSWER: Contractor shall be responsible for supporting ductwork through wall penetrations and properly sealing weathertight.

6. Sheet M-201 shows the fume hoods installed against the wall. Detail 3/M-501 show the fume hood away from the wall. Please confirm if the units will be installed against the wall or as freestanding. If freestanding, does the existing owner furnished fume hood include 3-sided rear cabinet panels and rear worksurface supports?

ANSWER: Installed against and attached to the wall.

7. Regarding Alt#1 - Please confirm required fume hood base cabinets/sizes. Options are standard storage, acid storage (with vent kit), flammable storage, or vacuum pump storage available in standard height or ADA height.

ANSWER: Both sides are standard height acid storage with vent kit.

8. I am looking at the project documents. Clima-Tech has an Automated Logic DDC System installed at one of the USDA AGS facilities in Corvallis, but I don’t think we have any systems in place in Pendleton. The mechanical drawings indicate the existing controls are to remain but doesn’t list what controls are currently in place.

Can you provide me with the mfg of your current system?

ANSWER: Alerton BMS controls.

9. Specification Section 01 35 26 paragraph 1.7 Site Qualifications, Duties and

Meetings, sub paragraph A personnel Qualifications, states the SSHO may serve as the Quality Control Manager. The SSHO may also serve as the Superintendent.

Please confirm one onsite individual can fulfill the rolls for SSHO, QC, and superintendent providing this person meets the qualifications for all three positions?

ANSWER: Yes, one qualified individual can fulfill the rolls.

10. Please confirm Delegated design is required for the HVAC support structure and foundation? It appears all of the structural calculations have already been provided in Attachment 4 Structural Calculations.

ANSWER: Detail 3 on sheet M-501 indicates the requirements for this platform. The awarded contractor is responsible for providing stamped shop drawings and calculations to meet the criteria listed.

11. Specification section 01 40 00 paragraph 1.8 Quality Control, Sub paragraph A discusses the Owners responsibility for special inspection. Subparagraph B discusses Contractors responsibility for special inspection. The individual specifications sections do not indicate who is responsible for testing and inspections. Please confirm if the Owner or the contractor is responsible for hiring and paying for the special inspections noted in the specifications.

ANSWER: Contractor shall be responsible for hiring and paying for special inspections.

12. Please confirm required fume hood duct material. Keynote 2 on sheet M-201 says type 1 unplasticized PVC and specification 233100, 2.4 says 316 stainless steel.

ANSWER: PVC Ductwork is required per drawing notes on fume hoods, applicable specification section is 233116 Nonmetal Ducts. Stainless steel ductwork is required for the ductwork connecting to EF-003-03 and shall meet the criteria of 233100 Metal Ducts and Casings.
