Technical Exhibit (TE-5)

Government Furnished Hardware, Software and operating environment

January 2017

The RAD Lab OS environment consists of Windows servers and workstations. Lab personnel use Windows-based workstations extensively for daily activities and project work, including GIS analyses with ESRI GIS software products, and statistical analyses using SAS.

Lab Computer Environment

Server: Hewlett-Packard (HP) ProLiant DL 385 G6 server.

The RAD Lab's primary GIS data Server is an HP ProLiant DL 385 G6, with dual AMD Opteron™ processors (2.6 GHz) and 64 GB RAM. This server is equipped with two HP Storage Works MSA-60 disk arrays, each containing twelve 1-TB drives for data storage.

Note: This physical server system is in the process of being migrated to the Agency’s Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) Virtualization Center; virtual servers for data storage and ArcGIS products (Insights for ArcGIS, Data Store for ArcGIS, GeoAnalytics, Image Server, Portal for ArcGIS, etc.) will be imaged with Windows Server 2016 OS.

Workstations: Dell T7810 and Hewlett-Packard (HP) Z820 geospatial workstations; laptops for telework

The RAD Lab has four Dell T7810 geospatial workstations and two HP Z820 Workstations available for contract use.

The two HP z820 workstations are each equipped with: Intel Xeon E5-2620 (or E5-2630) 2.0 GHz processors, 32 GB RAM, 1 - 256GB SATA Solid State Drive (for OS), 4 - 450GB 15k RPM SAS Drives, and an NVIDIA Quadro K4000 3GB graphics card.

The four Dell T7810 Workstations are each equipped with Dual Intel® Xeon® E5-2623 3.0GHz Processors (or Intel Xeon E5-2637 Processors), 64GB RAM, 1 - 256GB 2.5" Serial-ATA Solid State Drive (for OS), 3 - 2.5" 600GB 15,000RPM SAS (or 2 - 2TB 3.5" Serial-ATA 7,200 RPM) hard drives, and one NVIDIA Quadro K4200 4GB (or NVIDIA Quadro K5200 8GB) graphics card, The Dell T7810 and HP Z820 workstations are the primary machines for GIS, SAS, and other analyses performed by Lab contract personnel, as well as for use with daily tasks (email, etc).

Additionally, two HP ZBook 17 and two HP EliteBook 840G3 laptops are available for telework purposes.

Software:

Standard software such as Windows Office 2007 products and Adobe Acrobat Pro DC are provided in the Windows 7 64-bit OS environment on all workstations. Microsoft Outlook is used for email; Microsoft Internet Explorer is used as a web browser (Firefox is also available). It is anticipated that in the near future workstations will be migrated to the Windows 10 64-bit OS environment with an upgrade to MS Office 2010 products.

The USDA Smart Buy Enterprise agreement with ESRI allows for use of ESRI GIS products including ArcGIS version 10.3, including Advanced ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Pro with most available extensions (Network Analyst, 3D Analyst, Spatial Analyst, Geostatistical Analyst, Publisher, Maplex, Schematics, VBA, Workflow Manager, Production Mapping, Data Reviewer, Maritime Bathymetry), Python 2.7, Arc Server, etc. The Lab will be upgrading workstations to ArcGIS Version 10.5 in the near future. Access is also available to new ArcGIS tools such as Portal for

RAD GIS LAB, Beltsville, Maryland

ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online for Enterprise, ESRI Story Maps, and in the near future, Insights for ArcGIS, Data Store for ArcGIS, GeoAnalytics, and Image Server.

Additional software used in the Lab Windows environment includes but is not limited to: SAS 9.3/9.4, Google Earth Pro, Adobe products (InDesign, Illustrator, Distiller, Photoshop, and PageMaker), Microsoft FrontPage, Microsoft Project, Visio, .NET 2003, and VMware.

Printers:

The RAD Lab has access to one large format printer available for use: an HP Designjet Z6200 (42") printer.

Additional color printers currently available for use include the following:

• HP Color LaserJet 5550 dtn printers (3) – print size up to 11” x 17”

• Ricoh MPC4503G Multifunction Copier/Scanner/Printer/Fax machine (1) – print size letter

(8.5” x 11”) and legal (8.5” x 14”)

Technical Support

Technical support for workstations and printers are obtained through the NHQ OCIO Client Technology Service Technical Support Division (CTS-TSD) Help Desk. Personnel phone or email the Help Desk with IT related problems; on-site TSD-CTS staff are available for assistance.

Any issues with Lab Windows server and tape backup systems are resolved through coordination with CTS- TSD and NRCS liaisons at the National Center for Geospatial Excellence (NCGE).

Backup Capabilities Incremental and full backups of server data are conducted by USDA OCIO CTS-TSD staff using the Agency’s Server Virtualization backup system (Net App; CommVault).

Incremental backups are run approximately twice weekly; full backups are conducted once per week.

Backups are the responsibility of NRCS and ITS-TSD.

Network Because RAD Lab staff routinely works with large volumes of National Resources Inventory System (NRI) and GIS data, the RAD Lab has access to gigabit LAN support for most daily operations. All RAD Lab Windows workstations and the HP ProLiant server have gigabit connectivity to the National Headquarters (NHQ) network.

VMware® ESX Server

VMware® ESX Server 4.1 software is utilized on the HP ProLiant DL 385 G6 server to create and maintain hardware-independent virtual servers for a GIS data server, ArcServer for Web services, and an ArcSDE server. VMware ESX allows the partitioning of a physical server into a pool of secure, portable and hardware-independent virtual machines (VMs) that can run side by side on the same physical server. System resources are dynamically allocated to each virtual machine based on need, providing mainframe-class control and storage capacity utilization. These VMs will be replicated when the Lab’s physical server is migrated to the Agency’s Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) Virtualization Center.
