Orchard Fencing FY2020, Olympic National Forest

RFQ 1205G220Q0016

Site Visit 6/4/2020

Attendees:

Lawrence Seymour, CapSey Construction, LLC.

Dusty Watz, JX Construction, LLC.

Vadim Vakulskiy, EvoDesign Enterprises, LLC.

General information:

See photos of the existing fence and previously replaced sections in this document.

The shorter section of replacement (237 feet) is displayed slightly off on the map, the replacement section is a bit further southeast along the fence line. Two orange flags mark the beginning and end of the replacement sections, and posts with flagging are included for replacement. They were included in the approximate count of 87 posts.

Forest Service road 2340-141 runs adjacent to the shorter replacement section and can be used to access the site with equipment and supplies. This road cannot be blocked by the contractor.

Q: Can trees along the fence be felled to facilitate the work?

A: Yes. Trees observed during the site visit that may need to be felled were discussed.

Q: What type of posts are required?

A: As stated in the RFQ, 6”X6” 12 foot long treated lumber. Posts need to be pressure treated, and rated for use as fence posts with the lower end buried in the soil.

Q: What is the gauge of the wire fencing?

A: 12 gauge, and it needs to be galvanized wire.

Q: Can the area under/adjacent to the fence be levelled before fence construction?

A: Yes. It would be preferred for the area to be leveled and vegetation cleared in about a six-foot width. Waste could either be spread adjacent to the cleared area or hauled to a disposal site several hundred feet away, depending on the situation.

Q: The fence is constructed with wood bracing, can wire bracing be used?

A: Yes. Some previous replacement used a HD wire strainer/cable tie to accomplish the bracing. This is acceptable if the fence is solid. See attached photos.

Q: Can a Honey Bucket on a trailer be brought to the site?

A: Yes
