About this file

This is a sample cost estimate form for a hypothetical project under RFP 26-010 issued by the Laredo Independent School District in Texas for general repairs, maintenance, remodeling, and special projects. The project involves comprehensive renovations to an existing break room, designated Break Room A, including structural modifications, mechanical systems upgrades, electrical installations, flooring replacement, millwork construction, and plumbing installations. Specific work items include erecting a new interior wall (23 feet by 8 feet) using wood framing and gypsum board, demolishing an existing closet, removing and relocating a 5-ton air handler unit, installing ten new light fixtures, adding five new 110 VAC electrical receptacles (including one GFCI circuit), installing new aluminum double doors, removing and replacing approximately 230 square feet of vinyl flooring, and finishing approximately 3,200 square feet of wall surfaces with tape, float, texture, and paint. Contractors responding to this solicitation are required to provide a total project cost estimate in both numerical and written formats, along with an estimated timeline for project completion in calendar days.

The hypothetical project specifications include detailed requirements for custom floor-type cabinetry (6 feet wide by 2 feet long by 36 inches high) with white paint and grey wood-laminate finish to accommodate a double basin sink and electric water heater, along with PVC plumbing installations requiring approximately 60 feet of new hot and cold water lines and drainage connections routed from existing bathroom facilities. The form serves as an illustration of the evaluation methodology for responsive proposals and does not include formal demolition or construction plans, only a sketch drawing (Drawing 1-A) referenced on the BONFIRE website. Contractors must complete Form D with their company name, overall cost estimate, cost estimate in written words, and estimated completion timeline to demonstrate their capacity to perform similar general repairs, maintenance, remodeling, and special projects for the district during the first contract year.
