About this file
This document summarizes changes for the Lake Fork ERFO (Emergency Relief for Federally Owned Roads) project, which is a contract opportunity to repair damage to Forest Road 50070 caused by recent monsoon storms. Key details include:
The extra material generated from the project, such as deadfall and debris, is to be scattered on site rather than hauled away. For some sites, equipment may need to be placed on the opposite side of the creek to perform the work. The plans specify adjusting the stream and road alignments as necessary to achieve the required 2:1 slope for the riprap. At one site, the main creek channel that is currently blocked will be left diverted into the original stream channel after being armored. A new cattle guard is to be installed at another site. The document also lists the attendees from a recent site visit.
This project is part of the broader LAKE FORK ERFO ROAD REPAIR contract opportunity, solicitation number 1122528, issued by the Department of Agriculture Forest Service. The work involves culvert replacement, gravel fill, drainage grading, rock riprap placement, and other roadway repairs.

Summary of Changes for Lake Fork ERFO – Amendment Three
1. What should we do with any extra material, such as deadfall, overburden, or any other debris? Should it be hauled out or pushed to the side?
Answers: The extra material will be scattered on site. We do not anticipate having to haul any excess material away from the general site.
The sites vary as far as what has room or not for excess. We would prefer the material generated on each site to stay at the site, but if it is easier to dispose on a nearby site we can approve those locations as needed.
2. For site number 9, are we allowed to place a track hoe down below, on the other side of the creek, or do we need to reach down from the road? Answer:
Answer: If we are not able to reach to place the material from the road on the sites we will work with the contractor to get the equipment to the other side for the work to be performed.
3. For sites 3, 9 and 19, should we move the creek away from the road to match the 2:1 slope for the riprap as specified in the plans, or move the road away from the creek?
Answers: Site 3 is intended to mostly be shifting the road, we are open to adjusting the stream as necessary to get the slopes in this location.
Site 9 will be shifting the stream enough to allow the riprap slopes to be met as we are not planning to riprap the height of the entire embankment.
Site 19 will be shifting the stream over enough to place the riprap, and shift the road enough to soften the vertical embankments.
4. At site 26, we noticed that the main creek channel is currently blocked off. Would you like us to unblock the channel and reroute the water through the original channel, maintain the new channel, or is there an alternative plan for this section?
Answer: We are proposing to leave the water diverted into the original steam channel after we armor and clean channel the bottom end of the new road alignment for future water flows.
5. Regarding the cattle guard sitting at site 31, is it the one we are to install, or is it the old one that was removed?
Answer: Site 31 will be a new cattle guard and bases to be installed at the specified location. The one on site is remnants of the old one that the floods removed.
