REF: 12445224R0005, ATTACHMENT 1, AMENDMENT 1

RFIs:

RFI 1 - Where can we place the organic material removed from the overflow parking lot?

RESPONSE: The COR will identify an on-site disposal location within the immediate vicinity of the overflow lot - around the lot itself or directly off the loop road.

RFI 2- I saw this solicitation posted and wanted to inquire about the construction materials testing QA/QC scope of the contract. Will the awarded GC be responsible for hiring testing for a QC program and/or will the Dept of Agriculture retain QA services?

RESPONSE: The contractor is responsible for Construction Materials Testing QA/QC, and results will be a submittal to the COR to be verified and approved if it meets the project specifications.

RFI 3- We have looked through the plans and specs for the type of striping required for this project to get a quote. We have been unable to determine whether we need thermo or some other type of striping. Do you know what we need or am I just overlooking it in the plans?

RESPONSE: Pavement Markings shall be Type H per FP-14 Section 634.

RFI 4: The design plans call for “scarifying existing gravel surfacing 6” min. depth and mix with 6” loose depth NC DOT ABC Stone”. If the road is being graded, will that re-shaping suffice as scarifying?

RESPONSE: No, the existing gravel must be “ripped” or “scarified” as specified prior to grading or placement of new ABC.

RFI 5: Can I submit an alternative approach to the concrete curbing, which would utilize the existing cut stone?

RESPONSE: Alternative proposals are allowable per the Solicitation per FAR 452.215-71, but contractors must also provide a proposal for the current design.

PLAN CORRECTION:

Disregard the note on Page 19 – EXISTING VIEWING DECK LAYOUT & DEMOLITION PLAN which states “Install matching floor joists between existing floor joists.” No additional floor joists will be required for the repairs to this viewing deck.
