About this file
This is a construction project specifications document for site preparation work to support installation of a True Beam Linear Accelerator at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center in East Bronx, New York (Project #526-CSI-137). The specifications detail requirements for general construction, alterations, demolition, and removal of existing structures to prepare the radiation therapy wing for the accelerator installation.
The document outlines detailed technical requirements across multiple construction divisions including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, and architectural work. Key requirements include development of a Critical Path Method (CPM) project schedule within 45 days of Notice to Proceed, monthly progress updates, and strict security protocols for contractor personnel working in the medical facility. The contractor must maintain the radiation therapy wing's operations during construction, coordinate all utility interruptions with VA staff, and follow specific infection control and safety requirements. The specifications require warranties, operation and maintenance data, and as-built drawings upon completion. Quality control measures include required testing, inspections, and VA approval processes for materials and workmanship.
