About this file
This is an equipment brochure for Trane Precedent rooftop units (RTUs) related to Halifax Health's request for bid proposals to replace one RTU at Halifax Health Port Orange Cancer Center in Florida. The brochure details a comprehensive product line of light commercial packaged HVAC systems available in three main categories: Gas Packs & Cooling, Hybrid Dual Fuel Heat Pumps, and Heat Pumps. All models are offered in capacities ranging from 3 to 25 tons with various efficiency levels (Standard, High, and Ultra-High Efficiency). Each unit is factory-installed with Symbio 700 controls featuring an intuitive onboard interface and Service & Installation App, modular architecture with standardized components for improved serviceability, direct-drive fans for maintenance-free operation, R-454B low-GWP refrigerant meeting EPA 2025 regulations ahead of schedule, and industry-leading three-year parts warranty. Single-zone and multiple-zone VAV options are available for zoned systems.
The Precedent product line addresses sustainability goals through heat pump options that are up to 450% more efficient than gas furnaces and support building decarbonization efforts and local electrification mandates. Optional features include modulating hot gas reheat for humidity control, eFlex variable speed compressors delivering IEER ratings more than 50% higher than federal minimum standards, BACnet communication protocol compatibility for open-standard building automation systems, Air-Fi wireless communication, and 10:1 modulating gas heat for enhanced comfort and efficiency. The brochure emphasizes the broadest set of options available across all unit sizes and fuel types, eliminating the need for compromises on features, and positions the Precedent line as offering consistency, simplicity, and adaptability to meet current and evolving facility needs.

Precedent® Rooftop Units Setting the standard for consistency and performance
Choosing a high-performance rooftop unit just got easier. We recently upgraded our Precedent® product line to deliver maximum consistency and simplicity.
Just select the capacity, efficiency and fuel type you need, then customize the unit with desired features and options available across the board. You won’t have to make sacrifices because something you need wasn’t offered in a certain unit size, fuel type or efficiency level.
There’s no guessing about what’s available, nor any need to compromise on features.
The broadest set of options available in every size
Precedent Rooftop Units are light commercial packaged systems ideal for heating and cooling smaller structures, such as commercial office buildings, retail and restaurants, school facilities, warehouses and government buildings.
Installed on the roof, they save space and allow you to use every square foot of your business for your operations. Plus, because all parts are housed in a single cabinet on the rooftop, they’re easier to maintain and repair, and it’s less disruptive when the unit needs servicing.
Trane’s upgraded Precedent product line offers a comprehensive range of capacities and efficiency ratings, as well as heating types.
Every model delivers industry-leading performance, low-GWP refrigerant, the most advanced controls and new features and options to meet your current and future needs.
Get what you really need
Modular architecture for efficient servicing and parts management Designed with you in mind We put a lot of thought into how to make Precedent units easier to install and maintain. First, we created a new modular component architecture to increase commonality across the product line.
Compressors, coils, motors, fans and other components are standardized across the portfolio, which helps boost efficiencies in servicing as well as parts inventory management.
Symbio 700® controls with an intuitive onboard interface and Service and Installation App are standard on every unit We also included factory-installed Symbio® 700 controls as standard equipment on every Precedent unit. With its intuitive onboard display and Service & Installation App, the controller makes installation and service quick and simple.
Plus, every unit is compatible with optional Symbio expansion modules and/or custom programming to enable your HVAC system to grow with your needs. By adding custom programming in the field, you can adapt to emerging requirements or aftermarket changes as necessary. The adaptability of a Symbio 700 controller can also help save you money by avoiding complete system overhauls.
A full range of models to help you reach your sustainability goals Helping you get to net zero For building owners seeking to help reduce their carbon emissions and/or meet local electrification mandates, the Precedent product line offers models to fit your budget, efficiency goals and climate.
Precedent Heat Pumps: Increasingly, buildings are turning to electrification of heat as a solution to help achieve net zero carbon emissions. An electric heat pump can be up to 450% more efficient than a gas furnace.1
Available up to 25 tons, in both standard and high efficiency, Precedent Heat Pumps meet or exceed all new standards for energy efficiency.
Precedent Hybrid Dual Fuel Heat Pumps: These hybrid systems use electric as a primary heating source, while activating gas as needed. Precedent Dual Fuel systems offer an ideal solution for cold climates where a conventional heat pump may struggle to deliver enough heat for occupant comfort during extreme temperatures.

Our upgraded Precedent line offers many features you can’t get in any other brand of rooftop unit
Precedent’s Exclusive Features and Options
All Precedent Models* Include:
• Symbio 700 with Service & Installation App.
• Modular architecture and common components.
◦ Direct drive fans
◦ Hinged separate high/low voltage
◦ Modular design, toolless coil guards
• Industry-leading warranty, including three years on parts.
• R-454B Refrigerant — This next-generation, environmentally friendlier refrigerant (less than 500 GWP) is built into Precedent rooftop units now, meeting EPA regulations in advance of the 2025 deadline. Precedent models also include factory-installed leak detection systems where applicable.
• Single-Zone and True Multiple-Zone VAV Options — For zoned rooftop systems, our single-zone VAV control offers full supply fan modulation across the available airflow range. Multiple-Zone VAV systems deliver optimum comfort cooling and heating across various areas and types of spaces.

Available Options:
• Modulating Hot Gas Reheat (HGRH) — Available on all next-generation units, including heat pumps, dual fuel and multiple-zone VAV systems.
Controlled by space dew point or relative humidity, modulating HGRH helps to maintain consistent, comfortable temperature and humidity.
factory-installed, independent control of humidity and discharge air temperature. Modulating changes the game vs. traditional on/off to provide tightly control the humidify level without overcooling/heating the space.
• eFlexTM Variable Speed Compressors and Indoor/Outdoor Fans — These components deliver the highest light commercial rooftop efficiency in the industry. After implementing eFlex technology, many businesses see significant energy savings. That’s because eFlex is IEER-rated more than 50% higher compared to units operating at federal minimum IEER standards. Additional benefits include less temperature variation, improved dehumidification and reduced compressor cycling, extending a compressor’s life. eFlex models also come standard with full hinged panel access for ease of service and maintenance, single- or multiple-zone VAV supply fan, low ambient cooling to 0F, and discharge air temp sensing.
• BACnetTM — Precedent units are compatible with many different BAS communication protocols — in addition to LonTalk, Precedent is also compatible with BACnet. BACnet uses open standard protocols and works with virtually any supplier’s BAS without gateways or special hardware.
• Air-Fi® — Trane® Air-Fi® wireless communication is a reliable, flexible solution that frees you from the hassles associated with wired components for your building controls system. You can help to save both time and money by not pulling wire through the building.
• 10:1 Modulating Gas Heat — Enhance heating comfort with the factory-installed 10:1 modulating gas heat option available on Gas Packs and Dual Fuel 6-25T models. Modulating gas heat improves comfort by providing stable temperatures and a continuous output of heat by automatically modulating the gas value and combustion blower motor. Less on/off cycling improves efficiency and equipment life.
