About this file

This is a Prevailing Wage Rate Determination document issued by the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development for Sussex County, establishing wage requirements for elevator modernization and service work. The County of Sussex is seeking a contractor for a one-year full coverage service contract covering eleven elevators. The prevailing wage rates are effective as of March 17, 2026, with annual adjustments scheduled for March 17, 2027, and March 17, 2028.

The prevailing wage rates for journeymen in elevator modernization and service are structured in three components: wages (W), benefits (B), and total hourly rates (T). As of March 17, 2026, the journeyman rate is $68.06 in wages, $47.73 in benefits, totaling $115.79 per hour, with increases to $70.72/$49.00/$119.72 effective March 17, 2027, and $73.20/$50.61/$123.81 effective March 17, 2028. Apprentice rates are established at a 1:1 ratio to journeymen with corresponding tier schedules increasing throughout the contract period. Modernization work requires an eight-hour workday between 7:00 AM and 4:30 PM with overtime paid at time and one-half for hours exceeding eight daily or outside regular hours, while service work operates under a six-hour to six-hour PM window with overtime at time and one-half Monday through Saturday and double-time on Sundays and holidays. Recognized holidays include New Year's Day, Presidents' Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans' Day, Thanksgiving Day and the day after, and Christmas Day.
