About this file

This document is a Project Manual for the Salt Lake City Airport Baggage Storage Office (BSO) Expansion, Security Checkpoint Demo & Expansion, and Escalator & Stairs Terminal Level 1 to Level 2 project, prepared for Salt Lake City Department of Airports. The project encompasses three coordinated phases of terminal construction and renovation work. The Security Checkpoint Demo & Expansion phase requires demolition of existing restroom and baggage storage offices with eastward expansion of TSA queue lanes, including installation of drywall, ceiling systems, fire alarm and suppression systems, terrazzo flooring, doors, mechanical/electrical/plumbing (MEP) systems, security cameras, public address systems, and signage. The Baggage Storage Office Expansion phase involves construction of five new baggage storage offices at the southwest corner of the terminal, each containing a reception area and storage area designed to match existing BSO offices at the southeast corner. The Escalator & Stairs phase includes installation of a second 32-inch escalator from Level 1 checkpoint to Level 2 in the location of existing stairs, relocation of existing stairs above the modified Sally Port, and associated demo and new construction for flooring, ceiling, walls, MEP systems, fire systems, lighting, and relocation of a major cable tray.

The Project Manual serves as the comprehensive guide for contractors bidding on and executing this multi-phase terminal improvement project. The manual establishes technical specifications, construction standards, and project requirements across all three phases to ensure coordinated delivery and integration of the security checkpoint expansion, new baggage storage offices, and vertical transportation improvements. Contractors must address the complex coordination requirements inherent in executing these simultaneous projects within an active airport terminal environment, including managing TSA operations during checkpoint expansion, maintaining terminal functionality during demolition and construction activities, and coordinating MEP and structural work across multiple vertical levels.
