About this file

This is a Bid Bond Form document for Marion County, Florida, specifically related to the 26B-096 Silver Creek and Silver Creek 1st Addition Road Improvement Project. The bid bond serves as a financial guarantee that a contractor will enter into a contract with Marion County Board of County Commissioners if their bid is accepted. The project involves reclaiming and resurfacing approximately 0.91 miles of subdivision local road sections within Silver Creek and Silver Creek 1st Addition, along with removal of high shoulders, sod application, thermoplastic striping, maintenance of traffic (MOT), and construction layout work. The form requires contractors to provide a bid bond or cashier's check as part of their bid submission, with the surety company guaranteeing the Principal's performance.

The bid bond penalty amount is to be specified by the contractor and serves as security that the Principal will execute a contract and provide required performance and payment bonds if their bid is accepted. In the event of bid non-performance, the County may recover the difference between the Principal's bid and any higher amount paid to another contractor, not to exceed the bond penalty. The form accommodates either a traditional bid bond executed by a surety company or a cashier's check submitted in lieu of the bond. Checks from the top three ranked firms will be held by Procurement Services until contract execution and County approval. Contractors are responsible for retrieving bond checks or arranging courier delivery, with written requests required for standard USPS return service, after which the County assumes no liability for lost or misdirected mail.
