About this file
This document is a welcome letter for a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC®) issued by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). The letter provides instructions for new TWIC® cardholders, explaining that each card comes with an 8-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) and specific guidance for usage. Key details include maritime facility entry requirements, which may involve visual card inspection, PIN verification, or fingerprint authentication.
The document also outlines critical procedural information for card management, including a contact protocol if the card is not received within 5 business days. The UES Call Center (1-855-DHS-UES1) is available Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm Eastern Time to assist with tracking or replacing the TWIC®. Additionally, the letter includes a "Handling Your TWIC®" section with specific care instructions, such as protecting the card in a hard plastic cover, avoiding extreme temperatures and magnetic fields, and not laminating or punching holes in the card.

Congratulations on your new TWIC®!
The 8-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) for your TWIC® is provided on your care card as shown on the right. The fingers to use with your TWIC® are also indicated on the care card. Please note: as per U.S. Coast Guard maritime regulations, prior to granting you entry, facilities may conduct a visual inspection of your TWIC® card, require that you provide your PIN, or use your fingerprints in order to verify your identity. If you forget your PIN and lose your care card, you will need to visit the UES Enrollment Center nearest you to have your PIN reset.
Your TWIC® has been mailed to you in a separate envelope. If you do not receive your TWIC® within 5 business days of receiving your PIN, please call the UES Call Center at 1-855-DHS-UES1 (1-855-347-8371) Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm Eastern Time to report a lost card. The UES Call Center will be able to assist in tracking your TWIC® or placing an order for a replacement TWIC® if necessary.
If you have any questions about your TWIC® or require any support, please call the UES Call Center at the number listed above.
