About this file

This is a Specifications of Goods and Installation document for the State of California's McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park Boat Boarding Float Replacement project (Contract S25650009). The project involves construction of a new 6-foot by 80-foot courtesy dock with installation to existing piles and gangway infrastructure, along with removal and disposal of the existing dock. The dock frame and joists are specified to be constructed from Marine-grade 6061-T6 aluminum with precise dimensional requirements, including perimeter structural tubing at least 4 inches wide and 11 inches tall, interior joists at least 8 inches tall and 2 inches wide spaced no more than 19 inches apart, and hoop pile holders installed at 8 feet, 38 feet, and 61 feet. Heavy-duty flush-mounted piano hinges made from Marine-grade 6061-T6 aluminum will connect dock sections and attach the dock to the existing gangway, with diagonal bracing forming a W pattern in each section. All welds must meet stringent quality standards including uniform bead width, consistent ripple patterns, and non-destructive testing.

The dock is equipped with ACE Roto Mold floats or equivalent foam-filled floats designed to support a minimum of 40 pounds per square foot, with a total weight capacity of 19,220 pounds for the 480-square-foot dock. All floats must meet ASTM D1998-06 impact test requirements and Army Corps of Engineers regulations (33 CFR 327.30). Decking is specified as high-impact, weather-resistant vinyl with ultraviolet inhibitors (Brock Doc or equivalent) or aluminum, installed perpendicular to the frame in grey color with a concealed clip system. Additional components include white marine-grade flexible PVC bumpers (RYKO or equivalent) installed around the entire perimeter, sixteen 8-inch stainless-steel pop-up cleats (Accon or equivalent) distributed at 4 per 20-foot section and spaced no more than 12 feet apart, and stainless steel hardware throughout for all installations and connections.

Contractor to build new 6 foot by 80-foot courtesy dock and install it to the existing piles and gangway. Remove and dispose of the existing dock

DOCK FRAME AND JOISTS CROSS BRACING AND HINGES

The dock parameter structural tube should be made Marine-grade 6061-T6 aluminum. It should be at least 4 ½ wide, 11 inches tall and ¼ inch thick. The interior joist structural tubes should be made with Marine-grade 6061-T6 aluminum. They should be at least 8 inches tall, 2 inches wide and 1/8 thick and be no more than 19 inches apart. The hoop pile holder shall be made with Marine-grade 6061-T6 aluminum and be a minimum of 1 in square or round stock. They will be welded in the field and installed to the existing piles at 8 feet, 38 feet, and 61 feet. See detail sheet. Each dock section will be attached using heavy duty flush mounted piano hinges from Marine-grade 6061-T6 aluminum. A heavy-duty flush mount piano hinge will also be used to connect the dock to the existing gangway. All hinge pins shall be made from at least ¾ inch marine grade stock.

Diagonal bracing shall be included in each dock section to create a W pattern. See detail sheet. All welds should have uniform bead width, consistent ripple patterns, and proper cleaning with stainless brushes to prevent contamination and be non-destructive tested.

DOCK FLOATS

Floats should be ACE Roto Mold floats or equivalent and be designed to hold at least

40lbs per square foot. The docks total square feet is 480 so the total weight should be

19,220 lbs. ½ stainless steel hardware will be used to install the floats to the frame.

Each float shall be foam filled with one piece construction with heavy duty mounting flanges and structural ribs. Meet ASTM D1998-06 impact test and the Army Corp of

Engineer regulation 33CFR 327.30

DOCK DECKING

The decking will be made from high impact, weather resistant vinyl with ultraviolet inhibitors Brock Doc or equivalent or aluminum installed with an concealed clip system.

The decking should be grey and installed perpendicular to the frame.

DOCK BUMPERS

Shall be made from a white durable marine grade, flexible PVC. RYKO or equivalent will be installed at the top and bottom edges of the frame around the entire parameter. All mounting hardware shall be stainless steel.

DOCK CLEATS

There will be a total of 16 8 8-inch stainless-steel Accon or equivalent pop-up cleats with 4 in each 20-foot dock section. The cleats will be centered in each dock section placed no more than 12 feet apart. Some deviation will be necessary on the pile side.

The cleats will be installed using ½ stainless steel hardware that can easily be removed if replacement is needed.
