A. Section includes administrative and procedural requirements for quality assurance and quality control.

B. Testing and inspection services are required to verify compliance with requirements specified or indicated. These services do not relieve Contractor of responsibility for compliance with the Contract Document requirements.

1. Specified tests, inspections, and related actions do not limit Contractor's other quality-assurance and quality-control procedures that facilitate compliance with the Contract Document requirements.

2. Requirements for Contractor to provide quality-assurance and quality-control services required by Owner or authorities having jurisdiction are not limited by provisions of this Section.

1.2 DEFINITIONS

2. Testing and inspection requested by Contractor and not required by the Contract Documents are Contractor's responsibility.

B. Basis-of-Design Product Specification: A specification in which a single manufacturer's product is named and accompanied by the words "basis-of-design product," including make or model number or other designation. Published attributes and characteristics of basis-of-design product establish salient characteristics of products.

1. Evaluation of Comparable Products: In addition to the basis-of-design product description, product attributes and characteristics may be listed to establish the significant qualities related to type, function, in-service performance and physical properties, weight, dimension, durability, visual characteristics, and other special features and requirements for purposes of evaluating comparable products of additional manufacturers named in the specification. Manufacturer's published attributes and characteristics of basis-of-design product also establish salient characteristics of products for purposes of evaluating comparable products.

1.4 QUALITY AND QUANTITY

A. Work shall be executed in conformity with the Owner accepted standard of practice of the trade so as to contribute to maximum efficiency of operation, accessibility and appearance, minimum cost of maintenance and construction of future alterations and additions. It shall be executed that the completed work will conform and adjust itself to any existing installation.
