UNSPSC 73151503: Original design and manufacturing service

Procurement of design and build, manufacture, assemble contract services.

UNSPSC 73151503 Original design and manufacturing service is a Commodity code covering custom fabrication, redesign, and engineering work state and local governments commission for specialized equipment and infrastructure components. Recent solicitations show state and local bodies buying escalator design and replacement services, vegetation management product formulation and supply agreements, law enforcement equipment vendor frameworks, and video game cataloging and delivery services — a mix reflecting both capital project engineering and vendor-managed supply arrangements where vendors customize or engineer solutions to agency specifications.

The issuing bodies span state departments (Washington State Department of Enterprise Services), transit authorities (Utah Transit Authority), cities (Arlington and Fort Worth, Texas), and cooperative purchasing vehicles (Sourcewell). Washington State and Texas show the most recent activity, with additional opportunities posted by Utah. Representative recent procurements include the Utah Transit Authority's Request for Qualifications for North Temple escalator design and replacement (due June 3, 2026), Washington State Department of Enterprise Services' vegetation management products statewide contract (due August 20, 2026), and the City of Fort Worth's as-needed agreement for video games and library cataloging services (due April 30, 2026). The code shows diverse scope — from capital-project design services with fixed labor rates and Not-to-Exceed amounts, to supply contracts with custom product testing and certification requirements, to vendor-managed library services with database integration and MARC records processing.
