UNSPSC 12352600: Fluorochemicals

Monomer or organic compounds containing fluorine. Examples include Hydrofluoric Acid (HF), Hexafluoropropylene (HFP), and Trifluoroacetic Acid (TFA)

UNSPSC 12352600 Fluorochemicals is a Class code capturing chemical commodities that state and local governments procure for water treatment, laboratory operations, forensic analysis, and municipal utilities. Recent solicitations show state and local buyers sourcing water-treatment chemicals (sodium hydroxide, sodium hypochlorite, potassium permanganate, calcium nitrate, aluminum sulfate, sodium fluoride), laboratory consumables and reagents (drug standards, diagnostic test kits, instrument-compatible supplies), precipitant solutions for analytical work, and forensic crime-scene chemical supplies. Issuing bodies span municipal utilities and water departments (City of Meriden, Town of Groton, City of Norwich, City of Tampa, City of Palm Bay), state laboratories and forensic operations (California Department of Justice, District of Columbia Department of Forensic Sciences, District of Columbia Department of Finance and Services), higher-education institutions (Texas A&M University), and county sheriff operations (Harris County Sheriff's Office). The mix reflects recurring demand from municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities seeking bulk chemical supplies and from state and local public-health and forensic laboratories needing specialized reagents and consumables to support regulatory compliance testing.

Geographic activity concentrates in Texas (Texas A&M, Harris County), California (state RFBs for branded reagents and alcohol), Connecticut (Town of Groton, City of Meriden, City of Norwich), Florida (City of Palm Bay, City of Tampa), and the District of Columbia (multiple state laboratory procurements). Representative recent solicitations include the City of Meriden ITB B026-55 for water-treatment chemicals (calcium hypochlorite, caustic soda, aluminum sulfate, sodium permanganate, sodium fluoride, phosphate blend) with a one-year term beginning July 1, 2026, and the Town of Groton ITBs 26-12 through 26-15 (April–May 2026) for potassium permanganate, sodium hydroxide, sodium hypochlorite, and calcium nitrate supplies. Texas A&M University issued ITB TAMU-ITB-26-5055 for precipitant solutions due July 15, 2026, and Harris County Sheriff's Office issued ITB 250415 for forensic and crime-scene chemical supplies (petroleum ether, detergents, indanedione) and evidence-collection items with a June 8, 2026 deadline. The State of California has issued multiple RFBs for brand-specific reagents (Sigma-Aldrich/Cerilliant drug standards, Shiga Toxin QuikChek diagnostic kits, tax-free USP alcohol), signaling ongoing state-laboratory procurement under set-aside provisions for certified business enterprises. Response windows are typically 15–30 days; evaluation often weights price, incumbent status (where applicable), local vendor preference (Connecticut), and Build America Buy America compliance.
