NIGP 78063: Load Cell Scales

NIGP 78063 Load Cell Scales, an Item code, encompasses weight-measurement equipment using load cell technology that state and local governments procure for facilities management, public works, waste management, and regulatory compliance applications. State and local buyers source load cell scales for industrial weighing operations, including truck scales at landfills and waste facilities, platform scales for material handling in public works shops, and precision scales for laboratory and health department use. The code serves a broad spectrum of issuing bodies — state departments of transportation and environmental protection, county public works and waste management divisions, city maintenance and operations departments, and school district facilities. Procurement patterns show both capital equipment purchases and replacement cycles for aging scales, with buyers typically seeking units rated for heavy-duty or outdoor use in weather-exposed environments.

Recent solicitation activity in this code is not documented in the available source materials, making it difficult to characterize current geographic concentration or identify representative recent opportunities with specific issuing bodies, notice types, or response dates. Business development professionals tracking NIGP 78063 should monitor state environmental and public works procurement channels, particularly in jurisdictions operating large landfill and waste-transfer facilities, where load cell scale replacement and upgrade cycles drive recurring demand.
