Washington will continue its efforts to recover federally listed salmon statewide and support the exercise of treaty fishing rights by addressing the states highest salmon recovery needs in an integrated, systematic, and watershed-based manner. Proposed activities include: habitat projects that are high-priority, site-based, and that protect and restore habitat statewide; hatchery reform actions that improve hatchery practices to protect genetic resources; monitoring that evaluates the fish and habitat status, trends, and effectiveness of salmon habitat projects through intensively monitored watersheds and a regional monitoring program; and recovery plan implementation through salmon recovery regional organizations.
