About Good Stuff
The Good Stuff is a non-profit organization registered as a corporate entity tax-exempt in SAM.gov. It operates the longest-running Department of Agriculture incubator kitchen in Forsyth County, North Carolina (BV Kitchen) and the largest producer-only farmers market in the county (Cobblestone Farmers Market), located in a low-income, low-access priority area.
Through several prime federal grant awards from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), The Good Stuff has undertaken projects focused on increasing access to local food, supporting value-added agricultural production, and building capacity at its incubator kitchen and farmers market. A $297,573.70 USDA grant will enable The Good Stuff to secure and train producers on specialty kitchen equipment, provide resources and networking opportunities, hire a Market Access Coordinator, expand the incubator kitchen capacity, and develop outreach efforts to increase access to information and market access points for local producers. Another $410,647 USDA grant supported marketing, vendor recruitment, and strategic planning activities at Cobblestone Farmers Market to re-grow customer awareness, expand the vendor base, and increase annual vendor gross sales post-COVID-19. Additionally, The Good Stuff received a $1,400,000 HUD grant for economic development initiatives and community project funding, as well as a $20,000 USDA grant to cover COVID-19-related expenses such as workplace safety measures, pivoting to new markets, retrofitting facilities, transportation, worker housing, and medical costs.
