About Southern New Hampshire Planning Commission
Southern New Hampshire Planning Commission is the Regional Planning Commission and Metropolitan Planning Organization for the Southern New Hampshire region, providing services in transportation, land use, economic development, natural resources, and environmental planning. Through prime federal grants, the Commission conducts brownfields assessment activities, including inventorying, characterizing, and assessing sites, developing cleanup plans and redevelopment strategies, and conducting community involvement efforts. This has included EPA Brownfields Assessment cooperative agreements to support cleanup planning in Manchester and Derry.
As a subrecipient under Federal Transit Administration grants, Southern New Hampshire Planning Commission has received funding to provide contracted services and mobility management, to update local hazard mitigation plans, and to maintain transit services through operating assistance, working as a subrecipient under the New Hampshire Department of Transportation and Department of Safety. Partners in providing transit services have included Manchester Transit Authority, Easter Seals, Catholic Charities, and other coordinating councils.
