About Governors Highway Safety Association (Ghsa)
Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) is a nonprofit organization that represents state highway safety offices. Through federal contracts and grants, GHSA provides technical assistance and support to advance traffic safety priorities and initiatives.
GHSA has been awarded a $692,997 firm fixed price definitive contract from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to provide Law Enforcement Liaisons to support the agency's mission from September 2020 through September 2022. As the primary federal partner for state highway safety offices, GHSA will leverage its relationships with law enforcement leaders to coordinate activities that reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities.
Additionally, GHSA has received federal grants to update guidance and best practices related to traffic safety data and research. A $100,000 cooperative agreement from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will fund GHSA to integrate state data sources to better align crash reports with model criteria. A $10.5 million cooperative agreement, also from NHTSA, supports research through the Behavioral Traffic Safety Cooperative Research Program. As a subrecipient, GHSA has partnered on statewide and national highway safety initiatives funded through agencies including the Ohio Department of Public Safety and Johns Hopkins University.
